"Every song I have translated is well translated, the one who works on the very difficult songs with me is Dee Shipman. I know her telephone number by heart, and her fax. It goes back and forth - 'No! I don't like this word!' And she comes back and says 'Because you don't understand English!' So I have to convince her and she has to convince me, and the rapport is fantastic."

- Charles Aznavour

"I got the idea for this lyric when Petula and I were about to write a song for Dave Willetts................ I wanted something with passion (which Dave sings particularly well), and a song on which he could use his 'big' voice as well as his 'little' voice!
So I wanted to find a subject that had emotion and energy together; and although anger can be a destructive or negative emotion, it does have energy..............

I remembered a poem that had impressed me as a child, about not spoiling the world with anger.......... and that inspired this lyric !

I've often wondered, since then, what influences the young people of today; what forms - and informs - the building of their values........

I thought about this again a couple of years ago, when my beautiful god-daughter, Chiara, then aged 7, came for a sleep-over. The TV news was on as she arrived, and before I could turn it off, she was sitting intently taking in the program, as one horrific story of terrorism, war, and violence followed another on the screen.

I turned it off, and she was very still.

Then she quietly said,

"Deedee, I don't think that the world is a bad place. I think it's a beautiful place............. it's just that some people don't know how to behave properly!"

Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings, indeed............!! "

(Dee Shipman / Petula Clark)

Too many angry words
In angry haste
Are spoken
Too many promises
Of faith
Too quickly broken

He asked a quiet heart
A peacful heart
A true life
To leave emotions
That destroy us all

Through all the rounds of our time
Runs the chain
Of every soul
And one perfection in life
Is the goal
Is the constant

Too many angry words
Too careless are spoken
Too many promises
I made you Lord
Were broken

You made a loving world
A perfect world
For all men
Don't let me spoil your fine creation
With my anger

You made a loving world
A perfect world
For all men
Don't let me spoil your fine creation
With my anger
Live now
In harmony and peace
Now together
Live in joy
And in perfect
