"I've played music on the radio by many great songwriters, but I can think of no finer lyric writer than Dee Shipman. She has a great way with words, and a highly creative mind!"

We Only Learn
(Dee Shipman / Wes McGhee)

Don't tell me what I did to hurt you
Just tell me how to make it right
Let's never say what all went wrong
Let's say we've learned and now we're strong
And live the loving we can be

We'll say we know we're good together
We are in oh so many ways
Think of the things we've seen and done
And say there's better still to come
Let's live the future you and me

We didn't fail, success just stopped too soon
If cows believed they couldn't fly
They'd only gaze forlornly at the moon
Instead of taking to the sky
And jumping over

Remember back when we were children
We learned by trying many ways
We'd fall but get back up again
We learned to walk somehow, and then
We ran with joy towards today

Mistakes are how we learn, and God, I've made a few
One of the biggest ones was risking losing you
But here you are, still with me after all this time
You taught me we can't fail with love like yours and mine

We didn't get it wrong, we got it
We stumbled but we didn't fall
And when we lost the road ahead
We found another way instead
That made some sense out of it all

So darling thereby hangs the tale..........
We only learn, we never fail!
